Behind the Painting: Where Silence Deepens
Some paintings reveal themselves while I am working on them. Others wait until much later.
Where Silence Deepens was one of those paintings whose meaning became clearer to me over time. As I looked more closely, I began to see it as a reflection of life itself—the triumphs and adversities, the moments of clarity and uncertainty, all existing together within the same space.
What interested me most was that none of those elements needed to resolve completely. Somehow, despite their differences, they belonged together.

When I paint, I rarely begin with a story I am trying to tell. I respond to color, movement, texture, and whatever is happening on the canvas. The meaning often comes later.
That was true with Where Silence Deepens. Over time, I began to recognize something familiar in its layers. Life is rarely made up of one emotion or one experience. Joy can exist beside sadness. Hope can remain present during uncertainty. Strength and vulnerability can occupy the same space.
Perhaps that is what I ultimately found in this painting—not an answer, but an acceptance of complexity.
Silence is not empty. It is often where clarity begins.
