Held In Quiet

Held in Quiet began with the idea of painting a landscape without painting an actual landscape. I wanted to suggest a place rather than define one, allowing the colors, softened forms and distant horizon to create the feeling of somewhere that might exist.

As the painting developed, I imagined myself standing on a bluff, looking across a vast, windswept landscape. The warm earth tones and light gave the place a sense of sunlight and invitation, while the distant blues and greens opened the view beyond. There was movement in the wind, but otherwise, I imagined complete quiet.

For me, that imagined place felt freeing and peaceful—a moment removed from noise and expectation, with nothing demanding my attention. Held in Quiet became less about a particular landscape and more about the feeling of being somewhere open and still, held for a moment by the warmth, the distance and the wind.
