Texture Detail
Behind the Painting
Veil of Becoming began as an experiment with glazing. I started with a dark background and built lighter, transparent layers over it, allowing portions of the earlier layers to remain visible. I wanted to see whether working this way would give the shapes greater depth and dimension.

As the painting developed, the darker forms remained present beneath the surface, while the lighter colors seemed to float above them. When I stepped back, I began to see those lighter layers as a veil—covering, but never completely hiding, what was still developing underneath.

That discovery gave the painting its title. Veil of Becoming is about what is already there, gradually revealing itself through the layers.
